ADAM’S MADAM

Adam’s Madams

Eve’s Times has a platform for the Chennai Man too. Here’s a column exclusively designed for the Chennai Man who can express his views, thoughts, emotions and indeed his admiration for the Chennai woman and other women in his life. Inviting young men to talk about their lives and times and ways in which women have influenced their lives for better or worse…

Behind the attire of Asin in Gajini lies the creative genius of one of the most popular fashion designers in Chennai, who is currently doing upVikram and Asin for the film Majaa… and the man behind the screen is… Chaitanya Rao! He is most comfortable divulging his admiration for women without any qualms!

Women! A Rare Tribe Indeed!

Women manage to handle everything.  a demanding career, the household, children, husband ( I really don’t know how admirably they can handle their husband!) .. just about everything. If men could do that.. it would be really fantastic!

Mother

My mother , Jayanthi Rao was quite an inspiration to me to take up designing. She was a student of JJ School of Arts herself. Though she wasn’t much into a career,  she would freelance for my father who had an ad agency.  At home she used to sketch a lot. She designed outfits for Miss India once.  Something of her quality must have been in my genes, hence, I am where I am today.

I used to sketch a lot too when I was young. When I started off as a designer, it was not a glamorous field and I received complete support from my parents.

Sister

We were brought up on an equal basis. She has played a major role in shaping my character. Her presence in my life  has helped me understand how to treat women.

Women in My Career

As a fashion designer, I have worked with several women in my career. I have worked with Anees Tanveer who designs Simran’s clothes and Anu Sundaram who is now designing Jyotika’s clothes. With Anu I worked for the picture Phir Milenge. Costume designing for films is no joke; it requires a lot of effort. They are both very hardworking and their work culture rubs on your shoulder too. They are managing their home front and a very demanding career with elan.
