If you are deciding on a traditional saree for the morning wedding rituals, you can have the entire plan for the dress, accessories and make-up well in advance. Today, in the south, most women make a single plait and adorn their hair with flowers and jewels. Today, the trend is to wear glittering glass bangles that match the saree, bordered with gold bangles on either side. This will give your bangles an elegant and eye-catching allure. Some women would like to wear gold or gold plated exquisite anklets to enhance the beauty of their feet. You can also decide to have a gold coating on your ankles and don silver anklets, giving a different kind of allure.

For wedding receptions, the trend of hairstyling has undergone a drastic change. Gone are the days when the hair was either plaited or rolled into a bun. In fact, if your hair is done up over your head, it would add a couple of years to your age and women tend to avoid this hairstyle. You have to decide on what kind of hairstyle suits your face. If you try on a new hairstyle in the last minute, just before the reception, it will kind of make you look different. So try to have a trial beforehand itself. Also, don’t decide on a hairstyle because it looked good on someone else.

Brides like to leave their hair lose or make a top knot for wedding receptions. You can think of having heavy makeup over your face for the wedding reception. Since there will be video shoots and you will be often under the glare of lights, you can decide on dark coloured lipstick and eye shadow. You can also wear a designer dress or saree   and make up resplendent with a lot of glittering stuff as it will glow in the wedding illumination. 

If you are planning to tie a saree, you may want to try different styles such as the Maharashtrian style, Gujarathi style, Coorgy style etc. Use a good perfume for the evening.  You can also decide on a hip chain that goes with your saree and its border. With this kind of ‘finish’ you can admire yourself in the mirror and ask yourself if the captivating woman in the mirror is really YOU!

The Right Bride Attitude

If you are a person who thinks that a woman must look her best only on the day of her marriage, then your attitude will be reflected in the way you get your makeover done on the day of your wedding. You will be over made up! Not only will your natural beauty be suppressed, you will also look ghastly and will become a laughing stock on the most important day of your life. So it is time for you to change your attitude.

Remember, your beauty will be captured and stored permanently by the video and digital cameras. Down the years, when you look at yourself, you must feel proud of how you looked on your wedding day. Keep this in mind when you decide on how you want to look  as a bride.

The makeovers for the ceremonial occasion of the marriage and the more glamorous reception should be entirely different. It is important to remain relaxed and tension free on the day of your marriage. Hence arrange all the accessories for hair and facial make up  and the jewelry beforehand.

You must plan what kind of hairstyling you would want for both the occasions and garner all the essential accessories and keep them ready. Those who have short hair can plan to use attractive wigs and clutches that are available in the market. For the traditional ceremony you get readymade floral decorations for your hair. To that you can add pieces of traditional temple jewelry or any other type of jewelry. To complete the accessories for your hair styling you can go in for other matching pieces from shops or beauty parlours. Ideally for the main marriage, the bride’s make up should be traditional. Wash your face clean and start with the make up procedure using foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick etc. Usually the ceremony is in the morning and you can decide on pastel shades of eye shadow and lipstick. You can however enhance the eye make up so that they appear radiant . A toned down and light make up will befit the ceremonial occasion.
