PIQUE YOUR PEEVE

Pique Your Peeve

Cities do not seem to have a unified code of conduct for public behaviour.  It’s not difficult to get away with any sort of errant behaviour. Jumping the traffic light?   Er...  It’s not only me!  Spewing out saliva, Titanic style? Not new to us either. Dumping garbage in your neighbour’s garden? Approaching hoodlums for a black ticket at the cinema hall?  And … the ultimate passion….. letting your tongue loose for a juicy piece of gossip or to lash out invectives… our city  has witnessed it all. Here your favourite personalities  will disclose misdemeanour that piques their senses! You too can have your say. Suchitra Ramadurai RJ, singer and actor

I just can’t stand people who are inconsiderate to others. This quality comes to the fore, especially while one is on the road. Drivers who honk a lot, loud enough to shatter your eardrums are the villains!

Driving etiquette of some bus drivers in the city takes the cake!  While you can pardon auto drivers who stop suddenly in the middle of the road soliciting customers, you really cannot overlook the despicable behaviour of bus drivers who are driving government vehicles and are too arrogant about it. Most bus drivers are incredibly abusive.  It is sad to know that of late, people on the road have become very abusive without any reason. Bus drivers, auto drivers and two wheeler riders revel in spewing invectives at the drop of a hat. I used to get wild a lot but now I have realised that you have to control your anger. If you lose your cool, you are going to pay for it; they are not going to change.

I cannot stand people who spit on the roads either. It is not an uncommon sight to see auto drivers emitting a jet of saliva while waiting at the traffic signal.

Well, isn’t our bubbly RJ right?  If roads could speak, our city roads will indeed have millions of sob stories to narrate!
