The Best Fit

Ever looked at that tiny spaghetti-strap glitzy top and felt it simply ‘called out to you’ and you absolutely have to have it, even if it means skipping all three meals for the next ten years? Ever fluttered your eyelids covetously at a form-fitting halter dress despite the fact that you assume you have ‘bad legs’?  Or have you seen those skinny models clad in skimpy costumes, and admired their perfectly narrow waists, perfect hips and the longest legs you had ever seen and then simply jumped to the conclusion that you are ‘ugly’ because you will never be able to look ‘hot’ in a short mini-skirt and tank-top? If you’ve answered, “yes” to even one of these questions, then you need a quick attitude-change. Because, first of all, people don’t look good in beautiful clothes, but people look good in clothes that look beautiful on them. God has created people of different sizes. You might be blessed with a body constitution that digests all the pizzas, chocolates and chips that one can gobble or you might be cursed with a body constitution that stacks up the entire junk food on your thighs. But if we were all alike, then where is the variety? So for God’s sake, please stop idolizing those models who work out in the gym for at least six hours a day, and stop depriving yourself of nutrition just to look ‘cool’ in a mini-dress or to flaunt what you consider to be ‘beautiful legs’.

Even people who are on the heavier side can look good if they make an effort to dress suitably, so as to give an illusionary effect. After all, clothes can do wonders!!!

Here are some tips on how to choose clothes depending on your body structure. So just find the one that you belong to and wear a big smile.

PETITE FIGURE

Body Structure: Tend to be very thin and have trouble putting on weight easily how much ever you eat. (You lucky thing!!!) Ballet dancers, and models usually fall in this group. However, you have similar bust, waist and hip measurements, but an undefined waist.

Clothes:
Make the most of your nicely balanced figure and go for clothes that define your waistline, like drawstring pants and full-bodied skirts. Stock up on funky, glitzy belts and strap them on your waist over a well-fitted T-shirt and straight jeans. Belts are not only ‘in’ this season, but they will also give you the illusion of having a waist narrower than your hips.

SPORTY FIGURE

Body Structure: You are totally fit, with toned arms, hard flat belly, muscular thighs and calves, and not an ounce of flab. You have medium to large bones and your weight is distributed evenly throughout your body, with a high ratio of muscle to fat. Even though you may get excited about having such a perfect form, remember that you haven’t much of that ‘feminine’ touch.

Clothes:
Your athletic figure will carry off a tank-top and bulky tracks, well. Jeans and tight T-shirts will also enhance your figure. But to create the feminine touch, go for peasant-blouses with floral print over a pair of tight-fitting jeans, or wear a nice, ethnic kurti-top over a long jazzy skirt.

FULL BUST SLIM HIPS

Body Structure: You store body fat around the abdomen, chest, shoulders, and arms and have full busts. But, you have narrow, slender hips.

Clothes:

Lay off dresses that define the waist and avoid tight T-shirts, or even sleeveless T-shirts. Wear dark colours on the top half of your body and accentuate your slim hips with bright hues and tight-fitting jeans.

CURVACEOUS

Body Structure:
You tend to have a rounded, naturally curvaceous body, usually with a high percentage of fat. You have hips wider than your shoulder and you store body fat on your hips, thighs and butt, but you have a very slender, narrow waist. The more you diet, the more your metabolism slows down to resist weight loss.

Clothes:

To flatter your figure, avoid straight skirts, and go for A-line skirts instead. Draw attention to the top-half of your body by wearing eye-catching accessories and figure-hugging Tees. Stick to jeans that are flared or boot-cut. Avoid bright-coloured pants. When it comes to dresses, go for dresses that puff out at the hips but define the waist-line. Princess cut dresses will suit you well. For an ethnic look, you can wear a form-fitting kurti top over boot-cut jeans.

Remember, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, and not in the weighing scale. However, your taste in clothes reflects your personality. Looking good boosts up your confidence. So, flash your 32-teeth smile and brace yourself for what is most important to you—living life!
