DAMSELS IN DISTRESS?

What do college girls have to say about the dress code, yet another tsunami to strike the college circles?

Dress code in co-ed colleges is not necessary if girls know what to wear and what not to. If the girls don’t know then they should be taught modest way of dressing through dress code. Dress code is not necessary at all in girls colleges but modest dressing is one that is needed.

When I first came India, I found dress codes an entirely new and outlandish element where people are deprived of their rights. But considering the mental attitudes of certain people here and the troubles they give girls who don’t adhere to the dress code, makes it absolutely reasonable for colleges to bring in to such policies.

According to me having dress code is good but it shouldn’t be too absurd  such as asking girls to wear salwar kameez and dupatta only...its enough if they ask the students to wear decent and not-so-revealing clothes.. this is because the crowd here is not yet ready for too much of modernization...we have been having dress code in school - the uniform- why not in college? After all this is also an institution for learning.

Dress code is essential to maintain dignity and decorum of an institution, but not to the extent of banning jeans. Jeans is as comfortable as salwar and makes and ideal dress code when paired with kurtis or decently long shirts.

I don't really agree with the introduction of the new dress code for students. After all, the clothes that one wears is a personal choice and I personally feel that nobody can dictate to another person about what they should wear.
